Our Story

Art Music Theater Dance

The High School of Contemporary Arts endeavors to provide students with a curriculum rooted in 21st-century skill development, foundational knowledge, and appreciation for the arts. We aim to pay close attention to the whole child through social & emotional development, which is reinforced during our Advisory Classes. We encourage and support innovation and strategic thinking. We want every student to leave our school as an independent learner, confident in their abilities, and ready to engage the world around them.

The Arts studios bring together the study of traditional arts (dance, theater, fine arts, and music) with contemporary arts (film, multimedia graphic design, and animation). Our students gain unique residencies both within and outside the school through our partnerships, and have the opportunity to participate in special programs, performances, exhibitions, mentorships, and internships.

Priority Statement

In order to build a culture of high expectations and college/career readiness, our priority is developing a safe, collaborative, reflective environment that results in an increase in student and adult learning.

Instructional Focus

Through daily analysis using reading, writing, and discussion, students will be empowered to make thinking visible and relate learning to the world and themselves.

SEL Statement

Each student will have a trusted adult in the building and will be provided the opportunity to build a strong Social Emotional Learning community with peers through advisory classes.

Our Curriculum

Our professional staff of principal, teachers, counselors, paraprofessionals, and school aides provide rigorous instruction to students at the High School for Contemporary Arts. We are dedicated to structuring a day that maximizes creative and academic output.
